We have teamed up with ASRA Housing Group, OneSpace Community Centre and Greenwich Food Bank at Kidbrooke Village in Greenwich, south east London to offer local residents free cooking workshops.
The workshops are running every Thursday throughout July from 12.30pm to 2.00pm at the OneSpace Community Centre and will show residents practical ways to cook healthy meals on a budget.
The workshops include cooking demonstrations with residents taking part and sampling the food prepared in the classes.
James Rogers from Southern Housing Group said, ‘We provide a range of health and wellbeing projects for our residents. This is a great example of how we work with our local partners to meet the needs of residents. We know that some of our residents are struggling with their food bills and so these classes aim to help them cook healthy food on a budget.”
The workshops will run alongside the weekly food bank giving residents an opportunity to explore meal options using the items collected.
Paul Franklin from OneSpace said, “This is just one of the projects we have worked on in partnership with Southern Housing Group, and we continue to be impressed by the Group’s commitment to local community groups and development. Grant money is well spent on carefully thought through projects that really meet local need.”
