In the lead up to the 2015 General Election, we're supporting the Homes for Britain campaign, an initiative that calls on all political parties to commit to end the UK housing crisis within a generation.
The country is currently facing a huge battle to build enough homes to meet an increasing demand. More adults choose to live with their parents as housing prices are too high; young couples are finding it difficult to grow their families because they can’t afford to move; and studies have found that almost eight million over-55s are living in houses that will be unsuitable for them as they age.
The housing crisis affects us all and the UK is only building half the number of new homes that it needs each year. We want to tackle the shortage of housing and build more homes that people can afford.
We’re giving one final push to raise awareness of the need to build new homes among political parties in the lead up to the election, so we’re asking the Government to commit to build more homes for first time buyers.
