Southern Housing Group, one of the largest housing associations in the south east of England, will start construction work on its £12 million development on London Lane, located in the borough of Hackney, in September 2015.
Designed by PRP Architects, the six storey development will create 49 new homes including 28 flats for shared ownership, 12 for open market sale and nine three and four bedroom houses and maisonettes for affordable rent. In addition to providing new homes in central Hackney, the development will also include an adaptable 750m2 commercial unit.
Talking about the Group’s new development in London, Emma Brown, Regional Development Manager at Southern Housing Group, said:
“Located in a sought after residential area overlooking London Fields, our London Lane development is only a few minutes away from Hackney town centre and Broadway Market.
“We believe that it represents a great investment both for the local community and the Group. Not only will London Lane enable people who would not otherwise be able to afford to buy or rent their home to do so, it also has strong potential to support the development of local employment through the letting of the commercial unit.
“This development furthers our commitments to provide quality and affordable housing options and to contribute to strengthening local communities in the capital.”
Construction and development company, Higgins Group PLC, has been appointed to build the London Lane development and construction work will begin next month with the demolition of existing buildings. Building is scheduled to complete in summer 2017.
