About this role:
Southern Housing Group is committed to tackling social and economic exclusion faced by many of our customers. One key way we do this is by helping customers access digital resources. Our Laptop Loan scheme offer laptops for loan to customers who may not have access to IT facilities.
We are looking for volunteers to help us deliver the Laptop Loan scheme, working closely with our Digital Skills Development Officer.
What would you be responsible for?
• Updating and refreshing laptops –removing existing accounts and updating and scanning laptops • Preparing laptops for new loans - adding new guest accounts and setting up accounts as required. Ensuring requested programs are downloaded and can be easily accessed. • Preparing information for new loans –including simple step by step guides that may have been requested by the resident (for example, on how to set up an email account) and information on usernames and passwords associated with the loan. • Updating spreadsheets – including the main laptop loan spreadsheet, ensuring all requested information is correct before laptops are loaned. • Testing and updating Samsung tablets – we use tablets for events and workshops, which need to be updated regularly. You may also be required to download applications onto tablets when required.

Guidance will be given on all aspects of this role.
Locations may occasionally change within London, but this will be arranged in advance with volunteers.
Specialist IT equipment can be provided for volunteers for additional support needs.
Volunteers will be supported through supervised sessions and regular one-to-one meetings and reviews.
Skills or experience needed:
Required: • Confident IT user • Experience with MS Office products • Strong time management skills • Attention to detail • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) • Ability to work independently
Desirable: • Previous experience with computer maintenance and repair • Apple product knowledge (Mac OSX, iPad, iPhone) • Android product knowledge (Samsung tablets) • Good troubleshooting skills using logic and common sense • Ability to assist in multiple projects • Ability to comprehend and apply technical information and present technical information to residents in a non-technical manner
